Project Settings¶
A system administrator sets these when they create a project, and can change them at any time from the Projects page. See Projects.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | The project's name, 35 characters maximum. Required. It appears in the project switcher, in the 3D app, and on every page. |
| System Status | Free text for your own use, such as "Pilot", "Active" or "Closed". It appears in the project list and you can filter by it. |
| Start Date, End Date | The dates of the project. The end date cannot be before the start date. They appear in the project list. |
| Program | Free text for the programme that the project belongs to. Use the same spelling across projects, so you can filter by it. |
| Restrict Public Form Sharing | Whether people without a 3D login can complete the project's forms. See below. |
Public forms¶
Every form has a web address. Copy Form Link on the Forms page copies it. See Sharing a form.
Restrict Public Form Sharing decides who can use that address.
| Setting | Who can complete the form |
|---|---|
| Off | Anyone with the link. No 3D login is needed. Use this for public surveys and registration forms. |
| On | Only users who are logged in to 3D and have a role in the project. A visitor without a login sees an error page. |
What an anonymous visitor sees¶
When public sharing is allowed, a visitor without a login opens the form in their browser and completes it like any other user, with these differences.
- They must pass a CAPTCHA check before the Submit button is enabled. This stops automated submissions. Logged-in users do not see it.
- The submission has no creator.
- The form does not show who created it or which roles it is assigned to.
The submission follows the form's Automatically approve submissions setting like any other. See Submissions.
Tip
For a public form, turn automatic approval off. Someone then checks each submission before it becomes a record.
Note
A form that is assigned to particular roles is not public, whatever this setting says. Only members of those roles can open it. See Restricting a form to roles.
