Step 1: Create a Project¶
A project holds everything for one piece of work: its tables, forms, views, interfaces and dashboards. Users are given roles in a project, so a person can see one project and not another.
Every project belongs to an Organisation. The Organisation is your company or programme. Only a system administrator can create Organisations and projects. If you are not one, ask your 3D administrator to create the project and to give you the Project Administrator role in it. Then continue from Switch to the project.
Create the project¶
- Log in to 3D in your browser.
- In the main navigation on the left, under Administration, click Projects.
- Click Create project in the top right corner.
- Complete the Project Details.
- Click Create.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | The project's name. Required. For the example, enter Farmer Training 2026. |
| System Status | A short status for your own use, such as "Pilot" or "Active". Optional. |
| Start Date, End Date | The dates of the project. Optional. They appear in the project list and help you filter it. |
| Program | The programme that the project belongs to, for grouping. Optional. |
| Restrict Public Form Sharing | When on, forms in this project can only be completed by logged-in users. Leave it off for now. See Sharing a form. |
Switch to the project¶
After you create the project, 3D shows it in the project list. To work in it, select it in the project switcher at the top of the screen, next to the Organisation name.
The main navigation now shows the sections of your new project: About, Dashboards, Forms, Submissions, Tables, Views and Interfaces. All of them are empty.
Tip
The About page is a notice board for the project. Write a short description of the project there, so new team members know what it is for. See Projects.
What you have¶
- A project called Farmer Training 2026, with no data yet.
- Full access to it, as a system administrator or as its Project Administrator, so you can do every step that follows.
Next: Step 2: Invite your team.
